WHAT IS SOLAR ELECTRIC SYSTEM?

Solar or Photo Voltaic (PV) electric system is composed of solar panels which has
arrangement of PV or solar cells that are exposed to sunlight and convert it to electricity in the form of direct current (DC). The DC Power is stored into Batteries through a Charge Controller. The DC Power is passed through an Inverter that converts the DC power into alternating current (AC) which can be used for household lighting and run appliances. Bigger systems can be used to supply power for industrial and commercial use.

Typically, the batteries will be charged during daytime and the stored power will be consumed at night time. The PV system’s components specifications and sizes will depend on the size of the load. Components are available from China, Japan, USA and Germany.

Countries like the Philippines with plenty of sunlight will have good application of efficient PV systems. The Philippines with more than 7,000 islands, currently has difficulty in providing power to far flung or remote areas.
